      Dreams

When we were young, we had dreams and expectations. We imagine things; we keep thinking about what we want to be, what we want to do, what makes us proud and happy and what will we become.

We grew up, and things seemed like having their own way. We accept our success or failures and we move on. The rapid change, the need to do the urgent things, the works, the pressures and the failures, all kill part of our visions.

Things have changed, but they cannot really take away the dreams. We still have to dream on, to visualize our desires, our wants, our vision of our future, even when we are considered too old for such things.

Cornell Sanders started his business when he was sixty, and started the whole successful KFC business. The main thing is not the age whether being too old, or too young, but it is the desire to dream on, and the courage to realize it.

The ability to dream on is one of the fine qualities of human race that other species do not possess. So dream on, and put a deadline: make it a giant dream, a tiny one, an old everlasting one, a new-found one, a hobby-related one, a change of life one, a religious one, a stupid one, a stroke of genius one, or just whatever... just continue to dream on... Then, Just Go and Do It!

with the fast are pace of modern life, more and more people are living under great pressure. some people are afraid of pressure. they think that the stresses and strains of work deprive them of joy and happiness. in their view, stress does harm to them both physically and mentally. that is why they prefer something less competitive and strenuous to something more demanding and challenging. others argue that stress isn’t as bad as it often supposed to be. unless it is overwhelming, a certain amount of stress is vital to provide motivation and stimulation. with out stress, you may slack off and idle away your time. it gives purpose and meaning to an otherwise meaningless, dull life. people under stress tend to bring their potential into full play and to realize their goals. in my opinion, we shouldn’t escape from stress but to face it as it is. what we can do is to adapt to the stress and to profit from it rather than to avoid it.

In order to make a good impression during a job interview, you need to prepare yourself for it. You must arrive in plenty of time for the interview, so that you give yourself a little time to relax before the interview begins. The impression you make as you walk into the room is very important. Try to find out if the company or organization has rules about dress. Then try to dress according to their

regulations. You also need to plan what you are going to say. In some interviews you will have to do a lot of talking, and in others you will only have to answer a few questions about your education and experience. You need to have answers ready about yourself, your schoolwork, your strong points, your reasons for applying for the job, and the salary you expect. You will also be allowed to ask some questions. The questions you ask will show the interviewer that you have given careful thought to the position. You can ask questions like these: What duties will I have to do in the job? Does the company provide health insurance? Does the company provide opportunities for further education?

last year, my father bought a lovely pet for me. she has four white paws and a white and yellow tail. she has two small ears, two green eyes and eight whiskers on her face. her name is sally and she is one year old.

do you know what it is? a cat? yes, it is a cat. she has very short fur and she is quite small. she weighs about 2 kilograms. she is usually very friendly and quiet. we never frighten her or pull her tail or ears. she likes walking around me and playing with me.

if she is hungry, she will miaow. usually, she eats food from a tin, but her favorite food is fish. she likes juice if it is not too cold. she likes to chase and catch mice and sometimes she plays with butterflies. sally often plays with balls and pieces of string. she does not like dogs and she hates the rain. she likes sitting on the sofa and watching tv.

she sleeps anywhere! she sleeps on any table, on any chair, or in any basket. she sleeps on top of the piano, on top of the fridge or tv. she sleeps on the window ledge, in the open drawer, in the empty shoe, on the grass, between the flowers, under the tree, on anybody’s lap, in a cardboard box, in the cupboard, or on my dress. sally doesn’t care! she sleeps anywhere. she likes sleeping on my lap best.

i feed sally every day and give her clean water. sometimes i brush her fur and she enjoys it very much.

sally is a very good friend, but she is quite lazy! she never worries because we take good care of her. she is always a happy cat.

      this is my favorite animal---sally!

Of the fruits of the year I give my vote to the orange. In the first place it is a perennial—if not in actual fact, at least in the greengrocer’s shop. On the days when dessert is a name given to a handful of chocolates and a little preserved ginger, when macédoine de fruits is the title bestowed on some raisins and two prunes, then the orange, however sour, comes nobly to the rescue; and on those other days of plenty when cherries and strawberries and kiwi-fruits riot together upon the table, the orange, sweeter than ever, is still there to hold its own. Bread and rice, beef and mutton, eggs and milk, are not more necessary to an ordered existence than the orange.

It is well that the commonest fruit should be also the best. Of the virtues of the orange I have not room fully to speak. It has properties of health giving, as it cures influenza and establishes the complexion. It is clean, for whoever handles it on its way to your table but handles its outer covering, its top coat, which is left in the hall. It is round, and forms an excellent substitute with the young for a tiny football. The pips can be flicked at your enemies, and quite a small piece of peel makes a slide for an old gentleman.

But all this would count nothing had not the orange such delightful qualities of taste. I dare not let myself go upon this subject. I am a slave to its sweetness.

Yet with the orange we go live year in and year out. That speaks well for the orange. The fact is that there is an honesty about the orange which appeals to all of us. If it is going to be bad— for the best of us are bad sometimes—it begins to be bad from the outside, not from the inside. How many a pear which presents a blooming face to the world is rotten at the core. How many an innocent-looking apple, is harboring a worm in the bud. But the orange has no secret faults. Its outside is a mirror of its inside, and if you are quick you can tell the shopman so before he slips it into the bag.

With more and more cars coming into our families, we are happy that it has greatly improved our life. But unluckily, it has also brought many problems, such as heavy traffic and traffic accidents.

Traffic safety is everybody's business. We must obey the rules. For example, we must walk on walk side, when we cross zebra – crossing, stop and look right and left, then go across fast. Don’t play football on the road .we can tell our parents not to drink before they drive, not to run through red lights, not to talk and laugh while driving etc.

We can say cars are coming into our life, but only when everybody thinks traffic safety is everybody's business can we be safe driving on roads and walking on sidewalks.

English!

the latest word on this continuing concern comes from the international agency for research on cancer (iarc), which has concluded that working regularly with hair dyes in hair salons and barbershops probably increases the risk of cancer and that long term employment in these establishments is "probably carcinogenic to humans."

however, the iarc, a world health organization panel, reported that there is not enough evidence to conclude that occasional personal use of hair coloring raises the risk of cancer.this new report, published in the april, , issue of lancet oncology, is the first scientific word on the subject since , when spanish researchers reported that their review of 79 studies from 11 countries yielded no strong evidence of a link between hair dye and cancer risk. the only connection the spanish team observed was the possibility of a slight increase in the risks of leukemia and multiple myeloma, but they concluded that the causal effect was too weak to be a major concern.earlier, researchers at yale university found that long-term use of dark hair dye by women who began coloring their hair before 1980 may increase the risk of non-hodgkins lymphoma. no such risk was seen among women who began dyeing their hair after 1980. here, the difference may be due to the elimination of coal-tar-derived ingredients used in the older products that are known carcinogens. the yale study was published in the jan. 15, , issue of the american journal of epidemiology.

in general, i discourage use of hair dyes containing artificial coloring agents, which to my mind are as suspect in cosmetic products as they are in food. hair dyes applied to the head are absorbed through the scalp, where theres a very rich blood supply that may carry them throughout the body. im sure that the new iarc report wont be the last word on this subject. ill keep you posted on developments.
