　　I remember that when i was in my teens, i used to rebel at many of the “do’s” and “don’ts” my parents used to dictate to me. for example, when i kept on playing jazz records on the record player, my father used to condemn such music as sheer noise and replace them with disks of classical music that i always considered extremely dull.

　　My mom and dad were also very particular about the friends i went out with, always quoting the maxim the “one rotten apple could ruin a whole barrel of apples.” when i insisted that i sleep with my pet dog peppy, they immediately said no because they thought that i would be bitten by fleas.these are just a few examples of many of the things that i thought my parents were ueasonable about. today, however, i am also the father of a boy of fifteen, and i find that i, too, am pressuring my son with a lot of rules and regulations that he seems to find hard to swallow. the other day, i noticed that my son’s hair was altogether too long, so i told him to go to the barber’s and get it trimmed short. ordinarily, he is fairly obedient, but this time he put his foot down.

　“What’s wrong with long hair?” he said. “all my buddies have long hair. and besides, it’s my own hair, isn’t it? i don’t think you have the authority to order me to cut it short, even if you’re my father!”

　　When i was a boy, if i had spoken with such impertinence to my father, i know that he would have given me a good thrashing. but i suddenly realized that we are now living in a more liberal world, and that my son’s insistence on wearing his hair long was merely an instance of the generation gap that existed between us. so i relented, and so he still wears his hair long.、

　　I enter tile university after years of hardstudy and preparation. But life in the university is not as satisfactory as what I had expected. I become lazy and don't want to study.I become silcent. I become puzzled. I don't know what I can do in the future. Then I become unhappy.

　　Like a child endlessly asking, we humans, throughout history, have been continually demanding what we desire from nature. We enjoy the comfort and beauty of our furniture, yet we never bother to think about the serious soil erosion caused by deforestation. We take it for granted that we must warm ourselves in winter times, yet we seldom realize the burning away of precious natural resources. We appreciate all the prosperity from the development of modern industry, yet few would give the slightest consideration to the global air and water pollution caused by industrial wastes. Our ruthless exploitation has permanently impaired our mother earth. As we tragically learned from last summer's floods. we cannot continue our carelessness.

　　Finally, standing here at the threshold of the 21st century, we cannot help thinking of our posterity. Nature is not only the mother of the present generation, but also the mother of the generations to come. How severely our descendents will criticize us if we leave them a barren and lifeless mother? 　　1."循序漸進"——就是人們按照學科的知識體系和自身的智能條件，系統(tǒng)而有步驟地進行學習。它要求人們應注重基礎(chǔ)，切忌好高騖遠，急于求成。循序漸進的原則體現(xiàn)為：一要打好基礎(chǔ)。二要由易到難。三要量力而行。

　　2."熟讀精思"——就是要根據(jù)記憶和理解的辯證關(guān)系，把記憶與理解緊密結(jié)合起來，兩者不可偏廢。我們知道記憶與理解是密切聯(lián)系、相輔相成的。一方面，只有在記憶的基礎(chǔ)上進行理解，理解才能透徹;另一方面，只有在理解的參與下進行記憶，記憶才會牢固，"熟讀"，要做到"三到"：心到、眼到、口到。"精思"，要善于提出問題和解決問題，用"自我詰難法"和"眾說詰難法"去質(zhì)疑問難。

　　3."自求自得"——就是要充分發(fā)揮學習的主動性和積極性，盡可能挖掘自我內(nèi)在的學習潛力，培養(yǎng)和提高自學能力。自求自得的原則要求不要為讀書而讀書，應當把所學的知識加以消化吸收，變成自己的.東西。

　　5."知行統(tǒng)一"——就是要根據(jù)認識與實踐的辯證關(guān)系，把學習和實踐結(jié)合起來，切忌學而不用。"知者行之始，行者知之成"，以知為指導的行才能行之有效，脫離知的行則是盲動。同樣，以行驗證的知才是真知灼見，脫離行的知則是空知。因此，知行統(tǒng)一要注重實踐：一是要善于在實踐中學習，邊實踐、邊學習、邊積累。二是躬行實踐，即把學習得來的知識，用在實際工作中，解決實際問題。

　　單詞：毫無疑問是第一關(guān)。大綱標準是4500左右，但是這里面包括很多我們已經(jīng)認識的詞匯，所以真正需要背的只有大約20xx左右(當然，視個人情況而定，或許還會更少)。我個人比較喜歡被普通的單詞書，一頁一頁地背比較有成就感，但是很多人覺得這種方法過于枯燥。我見過的比較好的用“方法”背單詞的書是星火英語出的一本《15篇文章貫通四級單詞》，這本書用比較少的篇幅囊括了大部分四級詞匯，相對于《胡敏讀故事記單詞》來說，更容易。關(guān)于背單詞我唯一的建議就是盡快集中突破——用三天時間，每天讀5篇。千萬不要按照原來的習慣，一本書計劃要一個月，那樣肯定難以堅持，過兩天就不愿意背了。一定要一鼓作氣，拿出多一點的時間一次攻克。不要認為3天攻克四級單詞是不可能的，其實這一點都不難——我是說，這一遍不要試圖記住每一個單詞的每一種意思，只要記住一個意思就可以了，以后你還會慢慢接觸，但現(xiàn)在一定要快速突破一遍。

　　語法：語法就不要系統(tǒng)地學一遍了，一來沒時間，二來也沒必要。只要對照語法書把語法選擇題進行句子成分的分析就行了，先找句子主干，再找出每一個修飾成分，它們之間的關(guān)系，分析幾十個句子之后語法就基本上清楚了。
