    英語作文 篇1

      Activities after Class

Nowadays, the burden of middle school students is heavy, because they have to study at school all day long .After class, their parents take them to participate in various interest classes. However, in my opinion, activities after class is as important as study. By participating in activities after class, middle school students can learn what they can't learn from books. For example, students can develop their team spirit and sense of competition by playing football or basketball. Besides, school is not just a place for learning knowledge. It is also a place for making friends, having fun and improving personalities, and all these can be achieved by participating in activities after class. Therefore, remember to spend some time in activities after class.

      An unforgettable experience

      An unforgettable experience

My mom used to say that I was born to swim. But the truth is that I didn’t know how to swim until the last year of my primary school!

Mom always said that I could swim in the basin when I was only two months old. I was surprised at the amazing fact. If this was true, then why was I afraid of water? I went to swim every summer, but I didn’t make a little progress. I was worried and blamed myself several times. When I watched people swimming freely, how I wished I had learnt to swim!

The story of how I learnt to swim is dramatic. One hot summer afternoon, my father and I went to the swimming pool to swim. While my father was changing his clothes, I was roaming along the bank of the pool. Suddenly I heard a voice, “Look out!” and then came a big noise and beautiful splashes. Just when I was admiring the swimmer’s skills, I slipped into the pool! I was so afraid that I shouted at once! But the water kept coming towards me and I drank a lot of it. I was moving upside down and trying to reach the bank. I was struggling very hard to keep my head above the water.

A minute was like a hundred years to me. To my surprise, I was able to keep the style! Just then, my father, saw me and he seemed to be shocked. He then said, “Calm down, just wave your arms and legs like this. Right!” And I got it! I finally learnt to swim! You can’t imagine how happy I was and I wanted to jump for joy!

From this unforgettable experience I learnt that one’s power is unlimited. Sometimes you could show that power in an emergency. If you believe that, you will discover the power lying within yourself and achieve your goals. And one has to stay calm when it’s dangerous. To calm down helps you to think clearly and make the best decision for you. That’s what I have learnt from the experience.

    英語作文 篇3

The domestic hen and the duck both belong to the bird category. They have some features in common such as wings, feet, beak, flight, nest, migration, food and eggs.

The domestic hen has short wings which it rarely uses because it has a heavy body and lives on the ground. It is clumsy in flight and can cover only short distances. Its feet are designed for scratching the ground to find seeds and worms. It will also eat almost any other kind of food. Hens nest on the ground. They have been bred for egg production and can lay up to 300 eggs a year.

A duck has webbed feet so that it can swim easily and walk on soft ground. It has a long, flat beak which it uses to search for food in river and pond mud. It has powerful wings which enable it to fly long distances. It nests in grass at water’s edge. Ducks migrate long distances. A duck lays 5 to 12 eggs at a time and may lay twice a year.

In conclusion, although there are something different among these two birds, the basic features are quite similar.

    英語作文 篇5

he lost his arms in an accident that claimed his fathers life-who was the main source of support for the family. since then, he has had to depend on the arms of his younger brother. for the sake of taking care of him, his younger brother became his shadow, never leaving him alone for years. ecept for writing with his toes, he was completely unable to do anything in his life.

one late night, he suffered from diarrhea and had to wake up his younger brother. his younger brother accompanied him into the toilet and then went back the dorm to wait. but being so tired, his younger brother fell asleep, leaving him on the toilet for two hours till the teacher on duty discovered him. as the two brothers grew up together, they had their share of problems and they would often quarrel. then one day, his younger brother wanted to live separate from him, living his own life, as many normal people do. so he was heart-broken and didnt know what to do.a similar misfortune befell a girl, too. one night her mother, who suffered from chronic mental illness disappeared. so her father went out looking for her mother, leaving her alone at home. she tried to prepare meals for her parents, only to overturn the kerosene light on the stove, resulting in a fire which took her hands away.

though her elder sister who was studying in another city, showed her willingness to take care of her, she was determined to be completely independent. at school, she always studied hard. most of all she learned to be self-reliant. once she wrote the following in her composition: "i am lucky. though i lost my arms, i still have legs; i am lucky. though my wings are broken, my heart can still fly."one day, the boy and the girl were both invited to appear on a television interview program. the boy told the tv host about his uncertain future at being left on his own, whereas the girl was full of enthusiasm for her life. they both were asked to write something on a piece of paper with their toes. the boy wrote: my younger brothers arms are my arms;while the girl wrote: broken wings, flying heart.

they had both endured the same ordeal, but their different attitudes determined the nature of their lives. it is true that life is unpredictable. disasters can strike at any time. how you handle misfortune when confronted with it, is the true test of your character. if you choose only to complain and escape from the ordeal, it will always follow you wherever you go. but if you decide to be strong, the hardship will turn out to be a fortune on which new hopes will arise.
