With rapid development of computer technology, making friends online has become a hotspot among people, and people’s views about it vary from individual to individual. As for me, I would like to make friends in the real life rather than make friends online. Firstly, it is a waste of time to spend too much time in chatting online, and we have no enough time in studying. What’s worse, it does great harm to our health. Secondly the Internet is virtual, and there are all kinds of people in the virtual world. We are likely to be cheated. As a consequence, it will do damage to our property and emotion. Last but not the least, the over-reliance on it will bring about psychological problems. For one thing, we will ignore our real parents and friends. Actually, we are becoming lonely. For another, we may avoid facing the fact. In a word, I don’t think that it is wise to make friends online. As an old saying goes great minds think alike, friends are the people who share happy and sorrow with you, not only chat.

They agree that they must have computer skills to survive in today‘s world. They get on board, cease to be computer illiterate on the information highway. No student should enter the future without being computer literate.
While students take giant steps to catch up on the information superhighway, they should be alerted to problems of buying or renting computers. Playing games or surfing aimlessly on the Internet will do much harm. Otherwise, any attempt to learn computer will end up as nothing but an empty dream.

my dormitory room is on the second floor. it is small and crowded. the dark green walls and the dirty white ceiling make the room seem dark, and thus even smaller than it is, as youwalk into the room, you are stopped short by my bed which fills half of the room. the two large windows over the bed are hidden by heavy dark gold drapes. against the wall on your left, pushed into a corner behind the head of the bed, is a large bookcase which is crammed with papers, books, and knick-knacks, wedged in between the bookcase and the wall opposite the bed is a small grey metal desk. it has a brown wooden chair which seems to fill the left end of the under the desk is a wooden wastepaper basket overflowing with paper and debris. the wall above the bookcase and desk is completely taken up with two small posters. on the right hand of the room is a narrow closet with clothes,shoes, hats, tennis racquets, and boes bulging out of its sliding doors. everytime i walk out of the door, i think, now i know what it is like to live in a closet.

When it comes to a course that leaves the deepest impression in university, different people stand on different grounds. As for me, the most impressive course in college is “Appreciation of English Movies”, which I like best. I prefer this curriculum to others owing to the following factors.
On one hand, the professor in charge of this course has impressed me most because she is not only knowledgeable but also patient. More importantly, it is this respectable teacher who spurs my interest to English harder and broadens my horizon as well. Until now, what she said in the class often occurs to my mind. On the other hand, there are many discussions in the classroom when we have lessons. We are allowed to talk freely about a movie, the topic ranging from the theme of a film to its casting. So, during the talk, we become increasingly open-minded. And undoubtedly a brain open to everything carries great importance to study, work and life.
Generally speaking, the course on appreciating English films has impressed me most for it is not only instructive but also entertaining. And therefore, I suggest that more similar courses should be offered in the university.

I’ll never forget that when I failed in my English examination and I felt overwhelmed, Lisa taught me that failure teaches success, everyone had to persevere and face up to innumerable setbacks, as long as I face my problems bravely, I would create my own wonderful life . With her help , I finally gained the confidence and passed the exam.
Thanks to Lisa, I have learned the importance of courage, which is the indispensable characteristic in my life. She also let me know the importance of confidence. It means a lot to me and still in my head till this day.
