The diagram shows the stages in the process of making chocolate.
Chocolate comes from the cacao tree, which is grown in parts of South America, Africa and Indonesia. The tree produces large red pods which contain white cocoa beans. Firstly, when the pods are ripe, they are harvested, the beans are removed and they are fermented for several days in large wooden boxes. During the fermenting process, the beans turn brown.
Next, the brown beans are spread in the sun to dry. They are then put in large sacks and transported by train or lorry. After this, the beans are taken to a chocolate factory where they are roasted in an oven at temperatures of between 250 and 350 degree Celsius.
After being roasted, the beans are crushed and the outer shell is removed. This part is not needed for making chocolate. Finally, the inner part of the bean is pressed and liquid chocolate is produced.

當(dāng)今中國，學(xué)英語已經(jīng)成為了一種時尚。就算你中文學(xué)得再好，甚至三五分鐘就能寫出一篇三四千字的論文，不會英語，也只能算一個有文化的文盲而已。但我還是覺得，再完美的東西也是有缺陷的，英語就有那么一點(diǎn)兒比不上咱們的漢字。
先說語法吧，只要是個句子，就得有一個時態(tài)，什么現(xiàn)在進(jìn)行時，一般將來時。有時態(tài)倒不要緊，要緊的是，在英語中，一變時態(tài)，就要給主語和動詞來個脫胎換骨。還有變復(fù)數(shù)、比較級，都要把詞稍微改動那么一下。如此這般，要把這十八般武藝都操練精熟了，還真不容易。在英語里，還有許多變動方法不規(guī)則的詞，讓人眼花繚亂。這樣的詞，變動后人們很難猜出它原先是什么，因?yàn)樗缫咽谴嗽~非彼詞了。而漢字則方便多了，人們只要加上一些表示時態(tài)的詞就萬事大吉，不用再費(fèi)盡心思地變詞。
其次，用英語說話也怪費(fèi)勁的，就說背乘法表，在中國，再“沒文化”的人也知道“不管三七二十一”中的“三七二十一”。而在英語國家，例如英國、美國等，人們根本就沒有“乘法表”這個概念。因?yàn)橛糜⒄Z根本背不了乘法表!不信你用英語背一下乘法表，肯定是詰屈聱牙，難以成誦。而國人大多都能倒背如流。
最后，英語的最大麻煩就是：翻譯太死板。富有中國特色的東西，用英語一翻譯，就顯得生硬呆板，完全變了味兒。就比如中國電影《劉三姐》，本來挺好聽的一個名字，但到了英語國家，就變成了可笑的`“第三個姐姐劉”。中國成語“如虎添翼”到英國就成了“老虎加上了翅膀”在中國，這個成語是形容人有了得力助手。但在英國，就算你有霍金的智商，華羅庚的推理能力，恐怕你也很難想到它是什么意思。一些英語譯成中文，雖然不至于太離譜，但也讓人笑痛肚子�！盎丶疫^年”居然譯成了“十七年”。而當(dāng)英語譯成中文時，總是很準(zhǔn)確，就算實(shí)在無法翻譯，也可以音譯。
唉!英語的麻煩勁兒!雖然它有易于書寫、使用廣泛等優(yōu)點(diǎn)，但它也是真夠麻煩!
