　　My hobby is fishing. I am fond of going fishing, for it is both interesting and iastructive-It tempers my willpower. Last Sunday I went fishing with my friend, He Ping.We started at daybreak. After three hours＇ cycling, we arrived at the outskirts of Hefei and came to a stream. The water is clear and clean. One can see fish swimming. The meadow sprinkled with buttercups slopes to the stream. It is a good place for fishing.

　　In a few minutes everything was ready. Putting the bait of earthworms on the hook, dropping the hue into the strum, we sat there fishing with rod in hand. An hour passed. I did not catch a single fish. I lifted the fishing rod time and again. Time and again I was disappointed. There was no fish on the hook. On the other side of the stream, He Ping had caught several fish, one of which was very big.

　　"How comes it that you catch fish casily while it is so difficult for me?" I asked.

　　"it＇s easy. Only you need Io be patient." He Ping answered. "Make sure that you lift the fishing rod when the whole flat has sunk. I＇m sure a fish will greet you on the hook."

　　After a while the floats were swinging. I kept my breath and waked. The floats became still again. "Come on my hook, dear fish." I was saying to myself. In a moment the floats swang again and then sank abruptly, Just at that moment I lifted my fishing rod. To my delight I caught a fish. Grlnning, I took it off the hook.

　　This gave me a great revelation(啟示):Stamina(毅力) is what we need to achieve success. And it is more important to young people who usually lack it.

　　我的業(yè)余愛好是釣魚。它不僅有趣，且有意義——它磨煉我的意志。

　　上星期天，我和朋友何平去釣魚。黎明時動身，騎了3小時自行車后，來到達合肥郊區(qū)的一條小溪邊。溪水又清又凈，能看見魚在水里游。撤滿草茛的草地傾斜著伸向小漠。那是個釣魚的好地方。

　　幾分鐘后，一切準(zhǔn)備就緒。把釣餌魚蟲放在鉤上，并將直線垂入溪中，手握釣竿等在那兒垂釣。1小時過去了，我一條魚也沒釣著，不時地提起釣竿，一次又一次地失望，無魚上鉤。而溪對面何平已釣了好幾條魚，其中還有1條是大魚呢。

　　“怎么你釣魚那么容易，而對我卻那么難?”我問道。

　　“這并不難。只是需要耐心�！焙纹酱鸬溃骸耙欢ㄒ�等浮子全沉下后再舉起釣竿，魚就在鉤上歡迎你了�！�

　　過了一會兒，浮子在晃動。我屏住氣在等待，浮子又不動了�！坝H愛的`魚兒，快上鉤。”我自言自語。一會兒，浮子又動了，接著突然下沉。正在此時，我舉起了釣芊。我喜出望外地釣到了一條魚，笑咪咪地把魚取下了鉤。

　　A hobby can be almost anything a person likes to do in his spare time. Hobbyists raise pets, build model ships, weave bas-kets, or carve soap figures and so on. In a word, hobbies offer en-joyment, friendship, knowledge and relaxation.

　　Then, what is my hobby? Well, what I like most is singing. I began to sing songs when I was very young. My uncle was studying in a college then, so he could sing lots of songs, and he taught me several songs. I showed great interests in the music then, for they were pleasing to ears and easy to sing. My uncle told me they were called pop songs.

　　When I grew up, my music teacher found that I had a good voice, so she sent me to the Children s Palace to study vocal mu-sic. From then on, I began my vocal music training. And then I knew there were several kinds of songs, like folk songs, pop songs and so on. What I had learned most was the songs for children. They were all simple ones but our teacher trained us very strictly. We practiced how to produce sound and how to make our expres-sion more natural and more pleasing. Those simple training didn t reduce my interest in singing at all and I won awards one after another in several kinds of competition. Actually I began to make up a dream of becoming a famous singer in the future.

　　As time went by, I came to realize that my dream wouldn t come true for there were strict conditions of being a singer. But I still took singing as my hobby since I found in music the interests which were lost in the exams. When I put all my emotion into singing a song, it gave me very good and very pleasant feelings, and a good chance to relax. Besides, it was a good way to learn things that couldn t be easily found in life.
